LomiLomi
(traditional Hawaiian or Pacific Islander modality)
and Esalen-style (Esalen is a Trade Mark
of Esalen Institute, CA) are similar massage modalities
in that they incorporate long flowing full body
strokes, that freely connect physical effects of
massage with energy and breath in a natural holistic
manner with healing intent. Touch is a basic need,
as essential as air, food or water; receiving such
nurturing touch therapies can heal us from within
as well as from outside.
These intuitive approaches incorporate
many Swedish strokes with hands, elbows and forearms
in very dynamic sweeping motions that emulate the
ebb and flow of the sea. Captain Wayne integrates
some of these techniques with the warmth of Hot
Stones to create a very relaxing experience.

Sports Massage helps athletes
prepare their bodies for optimal performance (Pre-Event
warm-up and injury prevention for 15-20 minutes)
or recover after an event (Post-Event stretches
and cramp prevention for 15-20 minutes). Sports
massage is a type of Swedish massage, using many
of the same strokes, but usually at a faster tempo,
stimulating circulation of blood and lymph fluids,
stretching muscles, and increasing the range of
motion in joints.
Sports massage is usually conducted
at, or near, the event site and within an hour of
the start time. Post-Event stretches are done immediately
following a cool-down period. Both sessions are
done fully clothed in sports gear. Sports massage
is great for warm-up/cool-down for 10Ks, marathon
runs or walks, triathlons or prior to softball games
and soccer matches. Or, opt for a full body relaxation
massage following a round of golf or a day on the
slopes.
